Update to Humana Referral Requirement for Urgent Care Services

  • Effective January 1, 2015, Humana will be removing their referral requirement for urgent care center services for Humana Medicare Medicare Advantage (MA) members.
  • Although referrals are no longer required for services at urgent care centers, Humana encourages primary care providers (PCPs) to talk with their Humana-covered patients about when it is appropriate and advisable to seek treatment from their PCP, from urgent care centers and from emergency rooms.
